Stage 1 - Set-up

Welcome to Stage 1

Stage one involves setting up the structure and navigation in preparation for content population.  Developing an effective web site starts with analysis and planning to ensure the results produced meet the needs.

  • Categorise the web site (brochure, sales, services, information, e-commerce).

Categorise web site

The type of web site required will determine the following additional requirements:

  • Navigation system - Hyperlinks [graphics or underlined text] allow readers to navigate between web pages in a clear and logical format.  Navigation page links are best grouped together and displayed in the same position on every page.  An additional set of links is also displayed at the bottom of each page.
  • Page layout style - This describes the page structure and how the content is viewed.  Each web page can be configured to display 100% wide across the browser window or, set to a fixed width in the centre of the browser window.
